Flashing instructions:
Used to update the firmware binary via the microSD card.
To update the firmware, place the new binary (specified with a .bin file type) on a microSD and insert it into the machine. Then, under the settings menu, select Update Firmware, and navigate to the desired firmware version file so that the file is highlighted.
Press the encoder and the machine will install the new firmware, rebooting once the process has successfully completed.
If there is a firmware and configuration update available we recommend updating the firmware first and then the config to avoid any incompatibility issues with the firmware and config. Flashing firmware or configs other than those released may cause your machine to become non-functional.

USB Firmware Recovery
If updating from the microSD card does not work, or the machine is not responding correctly, use the Bantam Tools Firmware Updater to reinstall the firmware over USB.
Download the updater for your computer:
The updater includes the firmware, so you do not need to download a separate firmware binary.
To update or recover your machine:
- Connect the machine directly to your computer with a USB cable.
- Turn on the machine.
- Open the downloaded firmware updater.
- On Windows, open the downloaded .exe file.
- On macOS, double-click the downloaded .zip file to extract it, then open the Firmware Updater application.
- Wait for the updater to display Device connected.
- Select Update Firmware.
- Keep the machine connected and powered on while the update is in progress.
- Wait for the updater to report that the update completed successfully. The machine will restart automatically.
The updater automatically checks whether the machine is responding normally. If it is not responding, the updater will use its built-in recovery process when you select Update Firmware.
If the standard USB recovery does not work:
As a last resort, open the Options menu and enable Erase All Flash, then select Update Firmware again.
Important: Erase All Flash deletes the machine's existing configuration. After the firmware update finishes, open Config > Update Config and select the configuration that matches your machine. The machine will restart after the configuration is installed.
Do not disconnect the USB cable, turn off the machine, or close the updater while firmware or configuration data is being installed.
