The Bantam Tools Desktop CNC Milling Machine is relatively lightweight (when compared to larger CNCs) and does not use coolant during cutting. Due to this we did a fair bit of experimenting to find out what kind of performance we could achieve within the constraints of the machine's mass, speed, cutting power. We found that we achieved the highest material removal rate using a high speed and shallow depth of cut. This is in contrast to the more aggressive speeds and feeds possible with the larger industrial CNCs.
We are working on providing some initial feeds and speeds to help users get started using their machine (see the link below). We will be updating the linked page moving forward- so it will be good to check back now and then.

It is important to note that both metric and imperial measurements are used when setting up CAM operations and tool properties, so it is good to be sure you stick to one or the other, and that you are converting values when necessary. You can change The Bantam Software's preference for this in the "settings" menu at the top. Be sure to be consistent in the CAD/CAM software you are using as well.
